Black Label
Asteri Black Label
Rare coffee, released with restraint.
Asteri Black Label is reserved for our rarest and most expressive coffees. Limited lots selected for provenance, scarcity, cup quality and exceptional character. Each release is profiled with patience, approved through tasting, and presented only when it meets the highest expression of the Asteri Standard.

Not every coffee becomes Black Label
Black Label is not a roast level, a price point or a packaging choice. It is a release standard.
A coffee may be considered for Black Label because of its rarity, producer, varietal, process, cup score, competition recognition, harvest size or sensory complexity. But it is only released when the final cup carries the depth, clarity and distinction expected of the name.
What We Look For
What We Look For

Provenance
Farm, producer, region, altitude, varietal, process and harvest must be traceable wherever possible.
Rarity
Small lots, unusual varietals, limited harvests, auction coffees, competition coffees or exceptional seasonal releases.
Cup Character
Coffees with clarity, structure, aromatic complexity and a memorable finish.
Expression
The coffee must offer something distinctive. Florals, tropical fruit, layered sweetness, elegant acidity, unusual processing or exceptional balance.
Release Potential
The coffee must be capable of being presented as an experience, not simply sold as stock.
The Black Label Process
The Black Label Process
Each Black Label candidate is treated as a study in expression. We assess the green coffee, sample roast, cup, brew and observe before deciding whether it should be released fresh, rested or preserved.

1. Selection
Rare or exceptional lots are selected for provenance, scarcity and sensory potential.
2. Sample Roast
Each coffee is tested to understand its early structure, sweetness, acidity, aroma and body.
3. Profile Development
Roast curves, batch size and development are considered in service of the final cup.
4. Rest-Window Observation
The coffee is observed as it rests. Some coffees speak early; others unfold over days or weeks.
5. Brew Approval
Black Label coffees are tested through the brew method best suited to their character.
6. Release
Only approved coffees are released, numbered and documented.
CryoCapture X24™
CryoCapture X24™
Preserved at peak expression.
Selected Black Label releases may enter CryoCapture X24™, Asteri's proprietary peak-integrity preservation system. Once a coffee reaches its approved peak window, it is sealed in high-barrier packaging and preserved under sub-zero conditions within 24 hours of approval, helping to protect aroma, clarity and origin character until release.
Not every Black Label coffee is CryoCaptured. Some are best released fresh. Some are rested. Some rare green coffees may be preserved for future micro-roasting. Every decision is made in service of flavour.
