Our Story

Curiosity as a compass.

A family story of travel, loss, love, and coming home - poured into every bag.

Chasing the horizon.

For years, I travelled - not in a straight line, not with a plan, but with curiosity as my compass. Europe, South Africa, Asia, The Americas… each place left its mark. Australia became a second home for a while - first Sydney, then Brisbane - a life of sunshine, rainforest air, and the kind of freedom that makes you think you might stay forever.

And through all of it, coffee was the constant. A pause between flights. A moment of grounding in unfamiliar places. A small ritual that made the world feel connected, no matter the continent.

Then I met my Wife.

Two compasses, one direction

And suddenly the journey wasn't just mine anymore. We travelled together - Australia, America, small corners of Europe - collecting memories instead of miles. But eventually she returned to the UK, to the South Coast where we were both from. And I realised I missed her more than I missed the sun, the beaches, or the adventure. So I followed her home.

Eventually, we settled back on the South Coast - the beaches, the breeze, the familiar rhythm of home - and realised we wanted to build something that carried all of these experiences forward.

The family we built

We built a family, though not in the simple, linear way we imagined. There were losses - four babies who never got to grow up in our arms, but who shaped our hearts forever. There was grief, and healing, and resilience. And there was joy too - the kind that comes from watching your three beautiful daughters fall in love with the world.

Our travels changed shape. No more long-haul flights or far-flung continents. Instead, we found magic closer to home: the Forest of Dean, the Wye Valley, the Eden Project, National Trust paths, and days spent at Chester, Woburn, and Longleat - places where our girls discovered their love for red pandas. America again. A little Europe. Journeys filled with nature, wildlife, and the kind of memories that only happen when you're exploring as a family.

Coffee remained the ritual that held everything together.

Bottling the feeling of home

And always, coffee remained the ritual. The quiet moment in the morning. The pause in the chaos. The warmth on the days when grief felt heavy. The comfort on the days when joy felt light.

Asteri Coffee became our way of bottling the feeling of "coming home" after exploring the world - a brand inspired by the warmth and ecology of Australia, the culture and history of Europe, the energy and optimism of the USA, the colour and vibrancy of Africa and Asia, and the love and loss that shaped our family.

A way of gathering everything we'd lived - the travels, the homecomings, the rituals, the resilience - and pouring it into something that could do good in the world.

The pursuit of exceptional

I've always been drawn to understanding how things work and drawing on my travels, I became interested with understanding why some coffees felt alive. Expressive, complex, unforgettable, while others felt flat or ordinary. My background in geometric integrity taught me that excellence isn't an accident. I set about learning how origin, altitude, processing, and harvest practices shape flavour long before roasting ever begins. I studied regions, micro‑lots, and the people behind them. And the more I learned, the more I realised that exceptional coffee is the result of intention at every stage.

That curiosity led me deeper: into flavour drift, green preservation, roast profiling, and the how coffee behaves over time. This became the foundation of the Asteri Standard. A commitment to sourcing with purpose, roasting with precision, and treating every bean with the respect required to reveal its true character.

A little stardust

Asteri means star in Greek.

Asteri is the name we gave to the first baby we lost and is symbol of purpose, memory and direction. A reminder of the hope we carry forward.

So Asteri Coffee isn't just coffee. It's a family story. A love story. A story about leaving, returning, rebuilding, and giving back. A story about finding meaning in the small moments - the ones that happen over a warm cup, in a quiet kitchen, on an ordinary morning.

Every bag supports the Stardust Family Foundation. Every cup carries a little bit of our journey. Every brew leaves a little stardust behind.

Thank you for reading.
