Filter Coffee Guide
Filter coffee reveals clarity. It gives space to aroma, acidity, sweetness and finish. Especially in floral, fruit-led and high-altitude coffees.
At Asteri, filter brewing is where many origins speak most clearly. It is the method of patience, precision and quiet discovery.

How to Brew
Six considered steps
Rinse the filter
Place the paper filter in your brewer and rinse with hot water. This removes paper taste and warms the brewer.
Add coffee
Add 15g of medium-ground coffee and gently level the bed.
Bloom
Pour around 40–50g of water over the coffee and allow it to bloom for 30–45 seconds. This releases trapped gases and prepares the coffee for even extraction.
Pour slowly
Continue pouring in controlled circles until you reach 250g. Avoid pouring directly down the sides of the filter.
Let it draw down
Allow the coffee to drain fully. Aim for a total brew time of around 2:45–3:30.
Swirl and serve
Swirl the server gently before pouring to integrate the brew.
How to Adjust Flavour
Small changes, clearer cup
Sour or underdeveloped
Grind finer, use hotter water or extend brew time.
Bitter or dry
Grind coarser, lower water temperature slightly or shorten brew time.
Weak or hollow
Use a little more coffee or grind slightly finer.
Cloudy or heavy
Pour more gently, grind coarser or avoid agitation.

The Filter Ritual
A cup that unfolds as it cools
Filter coffee rewards attention. It slows the morning, opens the senses and lets the origin unfold as the cup cools. For many coffees, this is where the journey of place becomes clearest.
