Origin notes

Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is one of the world’s most protected and celebrated coffee origins. Grown within the defined Blue Mountain region, it is prized not for loudness, but for harmony: refined aroma, smooth body, gentle acidity and a mellow, sweet aftertaste. The coffee is mostly Arabica Typica, a variety closely associated with the classic Blue Mountain profile. Cherries are delivered either to producer-processor buying stations across the mountains or directly to estate pulperies, where they are carefully assessed before processing. Float testing helps separate lighter or imperfect cherries before the coffee moves through Jamaica’s traditional wet-processing system. Authentic Jamaica Blue Mountain green coffee is inspected by the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority, formerly the Coffee Industry Board. Beans must meet strict standards for size, shape, colour, cup quality, defect count and moisture content before they can be exported as Jamaica Blue Mountain. Coffees that do not qualify are separated into lower classifications. For Asteri, this coffee belongs in the Icon collection: calm, prestigious and beautifully composed. It is a heritage coffee with a quiet kind of luxury — a cup defined by balance, elegance and a long, mellow finish. Asteri note: A protected heritage coffee from Jamaica’s Blue Mountains, selected for its smooth body, elegant balance and mellow sweet aftertaste.

Questions before you brew

Whole beans stay fresher for longer because grinding exposes more surface area to oxygen. If you own a burr grinder, always pick beans and grind just before you brew. Choose ground only if you don't have a grinder at home. When you pick ground, tell us the brew method (espresso, filter, cafetière, AeroPress, moka) and we grind Jamaican Blue Mountain Grade 1 to the exact particle size for that method.
